Racing: Fischer dominates in Osrblie (SVK)
At todays Individual event over 20 km in Osrblie (SVK) Sven Fischer (GER) using Fischer was unbeatable. His performance today was nearly perfect, recording the second fastest course-time paired with faultless shooting. He took victory with an advantage of 1 minute 15.6 seconds.
Only his teammate Alexander Wolf (GER, also on Fischer) was faster in the tracks, but he got three penalties at the shooting range and so had to be contented with ninth place.
Second was the Russian Maxim Tchoudov, who had been faultless at the shooting range. Though Michael Rösch (GER, Fischer) had to compensate a one minute penalty, at the finish he was only 27 seconds behind in third place. Subsequently the young German achieved the best World Cup-result in his career.
In the ladies-competition over 15 km Svetlana Ishmouratova (RUS, Fischer) scored her first ever victory in a World Cup. With a top performance in the tracks and just one error at the last shooting session, she gained her victory with an advantage of over one minute.
Her team and brandmate Albina Akhatova (also on Fischer) secured the Russian double - also with just a one minute penalty. Florence Baverel-Robert (FRA) finished third.
Her teammate Christelle Gros (FRA, Fischer) was also really fast in the tracks and had good chances for the victory. However she then made two errors at the last shooting session and subsequently came in in 12th place at the finish.
