Racing: Relay-decision fell at the shooting range
At the end of todays relay in Hochfilzen (AUT) the German team achieved the victory ahead of the Russian squad in a thrilling race.
Alexander Wolf (Fischer) had to compensate one penalty, but the decision fell at the first shooting in the last leg, when Michael Greis (GER) and Sergei Tchepikov (RUS, Fischer) were together at the shooting range.
Greis shot clean without using a spare round of ammunition, while his Russian opponent had to use three spares. Russia with Tcherezov, Kruglov, Rostovtsev and Tchepikov (the last three on Fischer) finished in second place.
France and Belarus fought hard for third place. Here the decision also fell at the shooting range. Raphael Poiree (FRA) shot really fast and with just one spare also safe, while Vladimir Dratchev (BLR) had to use three spares. At the end the French were on the podium in third place and Belarus followed on in fourth place.
The Norwegian squad, starting as favorites today, hat no luck at the shooting range. Their starter Stian Eckhoff (NOR, Fischer) suffered two penalties. When Alexander Os in the second leg also had to go into the penaly loop once, Norway was virtually out of the race. At the end they finished in eighth place.
