Racing: Fischer three-fold victory in the womens and mens in Cross Country

In the Mens and Womens Cross Country Pursuit competitions three Fischer athletes made the podium altogether. Subequently the dominance of the athletes with the yellow equipment carries on after the Olympics.

On the womens side Marit Börgen (NOR, Fischer skis and boots), Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer) and Therese Johaug (NOR, Fischer) were the ladies who made the podium light up yellow. Over the last few kilometers Marit Björgen had the most power reserves left and was able to ensure her third World Cup victory this season. "It was a great race. Therese and I were working together and at the end I was able to make the gap to Justyna (Kowalczyk). I am in  great shape and hope that I will be able to show that as well on my home races next week."

Just 11.1 seconds behind Björgen Justyna Kowalczyk crossed the finishline in second place and was likewise satisfied: "It was a great race also for me. With my second place I am sure that I have secured the overall World Cup victory."

Therese Johaug finished in third place and thus made the podium for the first time this season and was beside herself with joy: "I am very happy about my race today. It is first time on the podium at a World Cup this year - that's great!"

Marianna Longa (ITA, Fischer) in seventh place, as well as Arianna Follis (ITA, Fischer) and Valentina Novikova (RUS, Fischer) in ninth and tenth place respectively likewise made the top ten.

On the mens side we even saw a six-fold victory with Fischer. The fastest skier of the day was Maurice Manificat (FRA, Fischer skis and boots), who was thus able to celebrate his first-ever World Cup victory in his career. "I am really satified with my race. I had good skis and am in good shape even though I was in good shape and performed really well at the Olympics. I must say I am still suprised about my victory," said the happy winner.

Lukas Bauer (CZE, Fischer) only had to accept defeat on the finishing stretch. However after winning all three intermediate sprints, the second-placed Czech was very contented: "I had very good classic skis. I am quite satified with my race today. There was a good cooperation with Manificat. I was stronger in the uphill, he was faster in the downhill so we knew without words that we could work good together to stay in front of the big bunch.

Ilia Chernousov (RUS, Fischer) completed the pure Fischer podium in third place by winning the finish of the chasing bunch in a photo finish against his teammate Maxim Vylegzhanin (RUS, Fischer). The third-placed Russian said happily: "It is my second podium this year and I’m really satisfied."

With Valerio Checchi (ITA, Fischer) and Andrus Veerpalu (EST, Fischer) in fifth and sixth place respectively the Fischer dominance in the field has been continued.
